Flag Repair
Alexandra Hammond
The Pack Studio,
About the offering:
Join us Saturday, January 25th, at The Pack Studio for an interactive art exhibition and one-day workshop.
On the heels of the 2025 presidential inauguration, interdisciplinary artist and brand strategist, Alexandra Hammond will be leading a workshop to address America’s converging crises of identity, democracy and loneliness. In her own practice, Hammond rebrands old institutions—such as the American flag and modernist painting— as living landscapes, organisms, and creative intra-actions. In her experiential workshop, Flag Repair, participants will co-create a new American flag from the inside out, tapping into individual and collective imagination. Those attending will be invited to rethink the symbol of the Flag—culturally, historically, visually—and to collaboratively produce a version that represents their own presence, knowledge, and experience.
Now more than ever, we are aware of the ways our world is wounded: ecological systems collapsing; our nation divided economically, ideologically, interpersonally; institutions built on morally and materially toxic footings. Hammond positions this brokenness as an invitation into being with, finding compassion for self and other, choosing to stay, contend, compost and regenerate.
The work and workshop included in Flag Repair invite us to remember both our interconnected pasts and collective agency in co-creating the future. Let’s compost the system!
Meeting Info:
This workshop will be held in person at The Pack Studio in Chelsea: 526 West 26th St. #807, (8th Floor) New York, NY 10001
